About
The Healing Arts Gallery
I created The Healing Arts Gallery first because I needed a place to share my own art.
Over the years, as I’ve stepped more publicly into the expression of my creative self, I’ve seen countless others step forward as well and name their desire to make art, to write, to sing. Some of the most joyful times of my journey have been witnessing people as they bloom into themselves, reconnecting to the inspiration they didn’t even realize was still alive and well within
them.
Now I find myself stepping into a new expansion of creativity: teaching and facilitating creative capacity building within groups and organizations. This curriculum cultivates leadership development, community engagement, team building, conflict resolution, personal growth. Ultimately, this is about each person rekindling the inspiration within, reviving their trust
and belief in themselves, and being witnessed as they heal the wounds that for so long bogged them down in their past.
One of my favorite things to create are life-changing and inspiring experiences. As a poet, a singer-songwriter, a performer, a painter, a project manager, a gardener, a hands-on healer, a life-long learner, I constantly engage with experiences in a way that changes me. Often, these personal experiences have become the source material for workshops and processes that facilitate change in others. I’ve discovered that I’m constantly creating curriculum and containers that can easily be (and is often then) replicated and ripples out to benefit others.
As we cultivate the practice of creativity, we begin inspiring our own will to live, reviving our purpose, reestablishing our place on the planet, reconnecting with the world around us.
The expression, the creation, the revelation directed toward the wildest and most audacious desires of our hearts also tends to extract from within us the greatest challenges–that which we most fear and must face.
Art and healing. Healing and art. Which one comes
first? Which one needs the other?
I believe that finding our inspiration is one of the most critical acts that we can undertake at this time to “course correct” our
current planetary trajectory, because we truly need “All hands on deck” if we are to survive as a species. I also believe inspiration is a simple thing, which can be recovered with ease, in moments of conscious and compassionate presence to self and others.
Creation and healing become a partnered dance, each necessary to allow the next step and the next and the next. Our artistic expressions may become the most reliable and unflinchingly honest companions to us in our healing journey.
So, thank you for meeting me at The Healing Arts Gallery. Here’s to our co-creation of the future that we are now making. Let’s bring our full inspiration to the task at hand!
